Events in Noosa, Peregian & the Sunshine Coast
- Partners in Textile (11-19 Sept)
A mutual love of textiles is the common thread for three long-time friends and artists, Helen McIntosh, Sybil Orr and Cathy Moon who showcase their talents in a new fibre exhibition, Partners in Textile which will be a kaleidoscope of colourful artworks and jewellery at the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre in the Noosa hinterland. At the grand opening on Saturday 12 August from 10am to 3pm there will be artists' market stalls, meet and chat with the three artists, light lunch and refreshments from noon. Sybil Orr will give an Artist Talk on textiles and texture at 11.30am, followed by guest speaker Janet De Boer at 1pm. Artists' stalls will include Icon Ladies, cards, tea cosies, jewellery, clothing, tableware, scarves, miniatures, fabric, woodwork, sculpture, pens, silks - buy something unique! A free art raffle will be drawn on Opening Day with the winner receiving a piece of art by Helen McIntosh
Noosa country show (15-16 Sept)
The Noosa Country Show is one of Queensland's premier traditional shows with horse events, stud beef, dairy cattle, dog shows and poultry; classic cars; art and craft; rides and sideshow alley; live entertainment; fireworks; rodeo; ute muster; competition sections; kids' workshops and more.
- Noosa Great Walk (30 Sept-2 October)
The Great Noosa Trail Walk is a 3-day journey through the Noosa hinterland's farmlands, forests, national parks, lookouts and historic villages. Dedicated walking trails traverse the Noosa country towns of Cooroy, Kin Kin, Cooran and Pomona, with spectacular scenery and lookouts of the hinterland through to the ocean and lakes. Complete the walk at your own pace, taking time along the way to enjoy the landscape, cafes, country pubs, antique shops and local characters. The nightly entertainment program takes place in Kin Kin and Cooran, with camping facilities available. Walkers are also welcome to organise their own accommodation at nearby B&Bs and guest houses. A reasonable level of walking fitness is required, but this is not a race, with plenty of time to complete each day’s walk and trail guides to provide assistance and information about the history and landscape. A shuttle bus will transfer all camping gear, and will be available to collect tired walkers at rest points along the way each day.
- Noosa Surf Film Festival (6-7 October)
The Noosa Surf Film Festival celebrates surf culture and creative talents in the surf industry - submissions are now open for the third annual festival. Filmmakers from around the world are invited to submit their films that explore any aspect of surfing through documentary, narrative, animation or anything in between!
- Noosa Tri (1-5 Nov)
Athletes and fans head to Noosa every year to be part of the world's largest triathlon - as a competitor or cheering them on from the sidelines. - Noosa Hill Climb (10-11 Nov)
The Noosa Hill Climb, celebrating its 20th year, is one of the premier hill climb events in Australia, with plenty of thrills and spills and up-close spectator viewing. Marque of the event is Historic and Sport Cars, with a broad range of makes and models including the Skelta, XU1s, Minis, Fiats, GTs, Jags, open wheel hill climb specials and more.
