- Dragon Boat Festival (6 May)
The Rotary Club of Cooroy Charity Dragon Boat Festival will be held on Lake Macdonald in the Noosa hinterland. Dragon boating is for everyone and anyone of any age, shape or size. It is a dynamic and exciting sport and this will be a day of fun, team building and an opportunity to try something new while raising money for good causes. Sports and social clubs, works teams, social groups, schools and individuals are welcome to make up a part or full team.Net proceeds will go to charity, with local disability support group Sunshine Butterflies as the main beneficiary.
- Coory Fusion Festival (12 May)
The annual Cooroy Fusion Festival is a celebration of artists, entertainers, artisans, food, community groups and much more in the Noosa hinterland town of Cooroy. The Cooroy Bendigo Bank Entertainment Tent has live music all day, there are free rides for the kids, food and market stalls showcasing local produce and artwork. Cooroy Library houses classes, presentations and demonstrations including Tai-Chi, Lego and a book sale and author signings. The Butter Factory Arts Centre also houses workshops and exhibitions. The annual Noosa Orchid Society Mothers Day Show and The Cooroora Woodworkers shows are also open.
- Noosa Food and Wine Festival (17 - 20 May)
The beautiful Noosa waterways will be a magical backdrop for the Noosa Food & Wine Festival, with more than 50 fantastic events showcasing some of Australia's best chefs in beautiful locations throughout Noosa. Events will take place at the new Festival Village in Noosa Heads Lions Park, under the Noosa Tipi on Noosa Main Beach, along Hastings Street for the Long Lunch, in signature restaurants throughout Noosa, and in produce and brewery trails throughout the hinterland. The new-look waterfront Festival Village will be the heart of Noosa Food & Wine Festival, with some of Australia’s best chefs at Masterclasses and the Chef’s Skills Table, a Craft Beer and Cider Corner, Pimm’s Garden Party, tastings from wineries and champagne houses, Producers Pavilion, a taste of Noosa restaurants and live music as the sun sets. See chefs Miguel Maestre, Matt Sinclair, Paul Carmichael, Kirsten Tibballs, Colin Fassnidge and more at Festival Village on the weekend of the Festival, 19 and 20 May.
Tall Trees Exhibitions (29 June - 1 July)
The Tall Trees Art Exhibition showcases the diverse talents artists in the Noosa hinterland. Held in the picturesque township of Cooran, the exhibition aims to promote and bring together local artistic talent and provide a unique opportunity for artists to share their work in a public space and offer them for sale over the busy weekend to patrons from near and far. A wide variety of artistic mediums is expected to attract the attention of an artistically supportive community and event patrons. Following the success of last year’s inaugural street format, this year’s exhibition will again take place along King Street in a collaboration between local businesses and the community. The exhibition’s Bendigo Bank Meet the Artists Opening Night will occur on Friday 29 June from 6pm at popular local venue, Hinterland Restaurant. The exhibition will continue in multiple venues along King Street until 5pm on Sunday 1 July.
NOOSA Alive (20 -29 July)
NOOSA alive! is 10 days and nights of supreme culture and entertainment with performances in dance, music, literature, food, theatre, a Festival of Thought, visual arts, film, cabaret and free events in Noosa, the Relaxation Capital of Australia. See 3 world premiere performances, 6 Australian premiere/preview performances and 5 Queensland premiere performances in up-close and intimate settings around the Noosa region. Young music theatre sensation Blake Bowden presents a world premiere event of Straight from the Heart, coinciding with the release of his album, for two performances only at The J Theatre on 28 July. Theatre legend Maggie Dence stars in a Queensland premiere performance of Marjorie Prime. - Sunshine Coastrek (27 July)
Trek the stunning Noosa region in Sunshine Coastrek to restore sight, raising money for The Fred Hollows Foundation. Take on the team trekking challenge in a team of four (50% women), walking the Super 60km trek from Caloundra to iconic Noosa Woods or the thrilling 30km trek from Maroochydore to Noosa Woods. Explore the pristine Sunshine Coast's white powder beaches, spectacular bays, secret bush trails and breathtaking headlands, and complete an incredible personal challenge with your friends while restoring sight. Coastrek was established by Wild Women On Top in 2010 and host three events in locations each year, including Sydney Coastrek 2018, Melbourne Coastrek 2018 and the Sunshine Coast. Since its creation it has seen thousands of people trekking to restore sight and raised millions of dollars.
