Noosa Farmers Markets every Sunday

Noosa Farmers Markets local produce

Noosa Farmers market

Shirley regularly stays at The Retreat Beach Houses and stocks up at the Noosa Farmers Markets; here’s some great tips from her.

Seafood

“We love visiting the Noosa Farmers Markets every Sunday from 7am-noon at Noosa Aussie Rules Football Club, Weyba Rd, Noosaville. This is one of the best Farmers Markets we have visited and one of the highlights for us is Soulfish, a seafood stand on the right hand side as you enter. They always feature reef fish we find difficult to source elsewhere and always head there first to ensure we have pick of Red Emperor, Coral Trout or Albacore Tuna. Once back at The Retreat Beach Houses, these form our dinners for next few nights (fish is in sealed bags) accompanied by steamed new potatoes, heirloom tomato salad drizzled with olive oil from the Fat Hen stand, avocadoes from the avocado stand (buy enough to last your visit).

Pork, Duck Rabbit

Another favourite stand is French Sin, also on right hand side just past Soulfish. Buy their duck leg confit which you pop into the oven for 10-15 mins to allow skin to crisp. Par boil potatoes beforehand and place under duck to cook in the duck fat and serve with green salad and avocado from the stands. Also their pork, rabbit or duck rillettes are great to have with nibbles – serve with sourdough rubbed with garlic and olive oil and grilled.

Sourdough and Bread

Closer to The Retreat, if you’re calling into Noosa Junction either to shop or visit the movie theatre, we thoroughly recommend the Hot Bread Shop at 4-6 Sunshine Beach Road which has delicious freshly baked bread and pastries or visit for lunch where Classic French dishes are featured daily or dinner later in the week. Their sourdough bread and coffee are excellent – apart from bread and pastries, they have a small range of French classic dishes e.g. duck confit, to take away.

Salads

For mid morning coffee and to stock up on deli items, pop around the corner to the Cooking Company at 20 Lanyana Way, Noosa Junction. They make, fresh daily, wonderful salads – many from Yotam Ottolenghi – the master of interesting and wonderful salads. Whilst 3 salads are featured daily, if you have a favourite, as we do (Apple Slaw and Fennel/Celery with truffle oil dressing), you can pre-order and they will make your favourite to go with your bbq”….Local and fresh produce for simple tasty holiday meals!
